Arts&Residents
In the month October 2009 Chantal Veugen stayed in an art workspace
from EuropeanArtist.tv in Sweden.
EuropeanArtist.tv is an project for artist and designers with the
goal for an exchange of thoughts and ideas from any possible discipline
and from all countries from Europe and the rest of the world. EuropeanArtist.tv
is there for writers, painters, architects, sculptures, fashion designers,
industrial designers.
The
workspace was located in an old school building in the village Hällefors
in Sweden. Surrounded by forest and lakes.
It was the first time that I participated a project like this abroad.
I wanted to see what results where possible in a short period of time
without any distraction. And in what way the surroundings can influence
the art work. I went with the idea to photograph the autumn with all
its marvellous colours but I was open for anything that was present
or came to being.
From
the moment I arrived it felt like I was entering a convent. This giant
building with only a few people in it, isolated from the world.
Every day I made pictures from everything I saw en wrote down my experience
every day. The colours of autumn, the surroundings en myself.
Eventually I translated my experience in a small book it is called
Diary of a nun.
